Can we define 1/0 = 13 ?

Abstract:
It is a mathematical tradition that division by zero is undefined, but
can we depart from that tradition and define the quantity 1/0 ?  Will a
contradiction necessarily arise from such a definition?  A simple and
surprisingly powerful technique called Skolemization can help us to
answer this and other intriguing questions in mathematical logic.
